We are the Cape Tormentine
Community Development Corporation

This is a special project of the Cape Tormentine Community Development Corporation dedicated to the advancement and preservation of the community we love.

Our events and special projects all have a common aim: To elevate Cape Tormentine as a “must see” maritime destination and experience that offers safe, affordable, inclusive, entertaining and educational family experiences by presenting the unique historical, cultural and natural resources available in the region.

We have a vision to create sustainable, long term economic growth in the region that directly benefits the community and its visitors. We are lighting the way to a bright future on the Strait Shores!

Our History

In May of 1997, a lot changed in Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick. When the Confederation Bridge opened, the Marine Atlantic Ferry Terminal closed. Many jobs in the area ended. The local lighthouses were deactivated and a familiar way of life changed for many.

In October of that same year, several local people came together to address concerns for the future of the community. Soon after, the Cape Tormentine Community Development Corporation (CTCDC) was formed. Over time, community volunteers worked together to build the Cape Tormentine Beach Campground and store. Today, this dedicated group of volunteers continue to work with staff to organize events and projects each season.

Through the years, the Campground and various events have attracted thousands of people. The community is proud to welcome visitors from near and far just like in “the good old days”! In 2022 an offshoot project was formed called “Beacon Of The East”. The Beacon Of The East project developed partly in response to the Indian Point Lighthouse (restoration project) and other CTCDC special projects.

The CTCDC welcomes you to New Brunswick’s most easterly point, “The Beacon Of The East” Cape Tormentine, New Brunswick!
